See Our Wonderful People
The dementia be loving and kind awareness symbol
"See Our Wonderful People," the dementia be loving and kind awareness symbol, was created by Fawz, a caregiver whose love and dedication inspired this symbol of kindness and dignity.
Her hope is that this simple message will encourage the world to slow down, show patience and recognize the humanity of people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Fawz created this kindness symbol to remind all of us that people living with dementia are still whole, valued and wonderful human beings—and that together, we can ensure they live well, not alone, but surrounded by dignity, connection and hope.
The Meaning Behind the Symbol
Dementia can sometimes change how a person communicates, responds or behaves. These changes are often misunderstood.
What may look like rudeness is often confusion.
What may seem like repetition is often anxiety.
What may feel like disinterest may simply be overwhelm.
It is easy to misunderstand what you are seeing.
Dementia affects the brain, but it does not erase the person.
Behind every pause, every repeated question and every moment of confusion, there is still a whole human being deserving patience, dignity and respect.
Before you judge, please pause.
Choose patience over assumption.
See the person first.
